Description

Primarina is one of the best Encore users, a menace against the E4. Specifically Agatha and Lance can get mostly swept by this thing, though it depends on switch-ins, RNG, and damage roll. For Agatha, Primarina has to be over 200 HP by the time Calyrex is out. It will go for Nasty Plot in that case, or go for Expanding Force if you're below 200 HP. Draining Kiss has to be the 4th move for that. Icy Wind is ideal for Lance, using it twice and then Encore on Arceus, who goes for Calm Mind 3 times by default on Primarina. You have to hope Dialga isn't switched in early, and that you have Icy Wind ready for a Dragonite switch-in. For a Rayquaza switch-in, most of the time, Moonblast will OHKO, so have that ready. Lance requires more accurate predicting. Primarina's also good for Lorelei's Dragon-types, regardless of the team she uses. Encore would do wonders against the Hail team's Fini and its Calm Mind. With Bruno, Primarina could take a backseat, or you could be ballsy and give it the Wacan Berry and make it Encore on Zeraora or Zacian. It can take unboosted Sunsteel Strike and Meteor Mash as long as it's in full HP, so there's Necrozma and Lucario prone to Encore. As for Blue, it's good for the rain teams. You could probably Encore Xerneas' Geomancy or Necrozma's Dragon Dance. I had Energy Ball listed in case you need something for Swampert. Primarina is also great pre-E4 as long as you can find an Encore victim. Or, just go for STAB, Water/Fairy's an incredible combo.

Primarina is one of the best Pokemon to use in the league. Once the threats to it are taken care of, it's safe to switch it in and set up, bonus points if it switched in on a not very effective or immune move. It's also one of the best Pokemon to shut down Primal Dialga, and with a few Calm Minds, it can tank even Flash Cannon. And it has enough HP that despite its mediocre physical bulk, it can still tank at least one attack from Pokemon like Mega Metagross, physical Mega Lucario, and Pheromosa, provided that it has full HP. And with enough Calm Minds, not even Miraidon, Mega Gengar, nor Eternatus can threaten Primarina. For some suggestion, switch Primarina in on Primal Dialga and Yveltal for a more lenient setup session.
